Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya Shloka Lyrics | Mahabharat

These lines are one of the major verses of the Hindu holy book Gita. These verses are 7 and 8 of Chapter 4 of the Gita. This verse was described by Lord Sri Krishna in Mahabharata when Arjuna had refused to fight in Kurukshetra.

Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya Glanirbhavati Bharata
Abhythanamadharmasya Tadatmanam Srijamyaham

Paritranaya Sadhunang Vinashay Cha Dushkritam
Dharmasangsthapanart- Hay Sambhabami Yuge Yuge

Sanskrit Lyrics:

यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत ।
अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम् ॥

परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम् ।
धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे ॥

Shloka Meaning:

When there is a decay of dharma (righteousness) and the rise of adharma (unrighteousness),
then I (the Lord) am born in this world

For the protection of the good, for the destruction of the wicked and for the establishment of righteousness, I (the Lord) am born in every age
